Trainwreck

While train wreck is a fairly common word for disastrous situations, one of my favorite movies used it as its title. It is about a commitment-phobic woman who finally faces her fears when meeting a good guy. Cheesy right? But it just happens to be that movies rarely portray a commitment-phobic woman because women are supposed to be emotional and clingy and it’s the men who are supposed to be commitment-phobic because they are not so in touch with their emotions and should hold shit like cheating parent, abandonment issues, cheating partner, etc over the head of every girl they meet for the next hundred years. Anyways, this is the movie that finally puts across the fact that women can be commitment phobic too because like we say women are emotional and we get affected by things like that too and we are also allowed to hold that over men for the next hundred years like men do but we don’t. We settle, we settle for the man who shows us how much he wants us in their life and how important we are to him and honestly we as women, do not expect much while we are sitting here asking men to do the bare minimum for us and yet don’t even get that.

And still, women’s fear of commitment or attachment, and their daddy issues are not talked about enough. Many women having these issues express it by either being too aloof or too clingy and it takes a lot of patience to help them handle that we women are expected to have it with men and their commitment issues because we are expected to have a lot of patience but men run at the first sign of distress.

That is why it is one of my favorite movies because I watch a fictional man putting in so much effort and being so patient even though he knows she has issues and he is ready to work with her through them.
